Our School  »  School Organisation

Calverley Parkside is a Community school with an attached Nursery class. The school is funded by Leeds City Council. Boys and girls between the ages of 3 and 11 are accepted. Admissions to Reception are manged by Leeds City Council Admissions. Most admissions are based simply on how far from school the family lives. Children who have siblings already in school, having a 'special need' or have been in the care of the local authority will have priority.

The school is situated in the centre of Calverley, an area on the outskirts of Leeds and close to the border with Bradford. Calverley still retains much of the character of the original village and has a very active community feel. Most of the children attending the school live locally in LS28.

The 26 place Nursery admits two groups of 26 children, aged 3 or 4 years, currently offering each child 2.5 days a week. They are in the expert charge of a fully – qualified nursery teacher and an assistant. They learn, through a carefully planned programme of structured play, the early skills of literacy, numeracy and social interaction which stands them in good stead for their future education. Parents are encouraged to have an active involvement in the nursery. To find out more information about the nursery, please use the navigate bar above to visit the nursery area of our website.

All classes in the school normally have a maximum of 30 pupils and are organised into single age classes. Classes are organised into EYFS, KS1 and KS2. Teachers meet regularly to plan as a whole key stage. Staff will often plan joint topics, projects or learning.

Calverley Parkside operates within the Pudsey Family of Schools in addition to the Red Kite Teaching Alliance and looks to work and learn across the district whenever possible. This is most commonly but not always done through sports events. Calverley Parkside is also part of the ‘Leeds P.E. offer’ and enter city-wide competitions and events.

Calverley Parkside is now also a member of the Red Kite Teacher Training partnerhip, which currently operates across many schoosl in North Yorkshire, Leeds and Bradford. All schools are looking to share expertise and training to raise standards in all partner schools.

Schools constantly adapt to meet the needs of the pupils. The attached Staff List gives an outline of where staff are normally located. These locations do change and so refer to class pages for a more up to date list.
