Our Learning  »  Home Learning

Home Learning
We want homework to be engaging, well matched to individual pupils and manageable for families.
Responding to feedback from parents/carers we have adapted the approach to learning that takes place at home.
We are fully aware that our families want to support their children as much as possible and so we are adopting an approach that we believe will allow that to happen more easily. Two key themes arise from feedback;
  • Home learning should be flexible and meet the needs of the child and family
  • Many families prefer a systematic approach to homework

To meet those different themes we have put in place two approaches. We believe this combination will allow our pupils to experience the home learning that parents/carers prefer.

Weekly Tasks
Class teachers will send home/notify families of the English and Maths task to be completed that week. This will often be a worksheet with a 'basic skills' focus.

Broader Opportunities
School has developed a framework of learning at home that allows families to develop their own more bespoke tasks. School provides a comprehensive guide to the learning that takes place in each class/year and these can be selected from individually. Please see the leaflet below for more information.
